About Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was established in the UK in 1913, having the honour of building London’s first mosque in 1926. Since its inception, it has been at the forefront of promoting an authentic, rational and compassionate vision of Islam among the British people. Always emphasising the need to be both obedient to God in our spiritual lives, and loyal to our nation in our civic lives, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK has come to be seen as a model for peaceful integration. While adding thousands of native Britons to its ranks, it has only served to promote inter-community harmony and religious cooperation.
In 1984, the Community was blessed with the residence of His Holiness Mirza Tahir Ahmadrh, the Fourth Caliph of the Promised Messiah. Leaving his native Pakistan due to increasing persecution of Ahmadi Muslims, he found a safe haven in the Fazl Mosque, Southfields. There, he led the worldwide community to ever-greater heights, strengthening international missions across the world, and establishing Muslim Television Ahmadiyya (MTA), the community’s pioneering satellite television channel. Since his demise, the Fifth Caliph, Mirza Masroor Ahmad, may God strengthen his hand, has continued to lead the community into a new era of progress, all directed from his residence in South London. Indeed, there is no other community in recent decades that has been so blessed with Caliphate as has the UK community.
